God of War Laufey releases on 16 February 2027, on PlayStation 5, confirmed by Santa Monica Studio at the God of War Laufey panel during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. For India, that UTC date lands on the morning of 16 February. It is a PS5 title with no PC date announced, it puts you in control of Laufey (Faye) rather than Kratos, and Sony has not published an India price yet. God of War Laufey release date, and when it lands in India
The date is fixed: 16 February 2027. The PlayStation Store listing shows a release timestamp of 02:30 AM UTC on that day. Convert that to IST and you get around 8:00 AM on 16 February in India, so digital pre-loaders should be able to start playing that morning rather than waiting for a Western evening unlock.
Sony first revealed the game during the State of Play on 2 June 2026 with a gameplay trailer that runs close to 24 minutes. The Comic-Con panel later nailed down the launch date. Cory Barlog used the same panel to say the next Kratos-led God of War is due after Laufey and will connect directly to her story, so this is not a spin-off cul-de-sac.
Is God of War Laufey a PS5 exclusive? What about PC?
At launch it is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The PlayStation India listing names PS5 as the only platform, and the Fandom wiki records the same. There is no PS4 version and no announced PC date.
That said, Sony has a well-established habit of bringing its first-party God of War games to PC after a delay. God of War (2018) and Ragnarök both arrived on PC well after their console launches. We would not be surprised to see Laufey follow, but Sony has confirmed nothing, so treat a PC release as likely-eventually, not scheduled. If PC is your only machine, plan around the PS5 launch, not a phantom port.
No PC date exists yet. History says a port is probable; a confirmed date is not.
Who is Laufey (Faye)? Her story after God of War Ragnarok
Laufey, also called Faye, is Kratos's wife and Atreus's mother. In the mainline games she is already dead when God of War (2018) opens, her ashes scattered from the highest peak in the realms. Laufey turns that death into a beginning.
The setup: after her funeral, Faye wakes in a strange land, the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. The plans she laid to protect Kratos and Atreus in her absence are unravelling, and she has to fight through this afterlife to set them right. The story runs parallel to the events of the 2018 game and Ragnarök rather than after them, which is how a dead character gets a full campaign.
Deborah Ann Woll voices Laufey. Christopher Judge returns as Kratos, so his presence is confirmed at least in some capacity, though this is Faye's game and she is the one you play. Before the mainline games, Laufey was guardian of the Jötnar, a rebel leader against the Aesir, and lone protector of the Wildwoods, a fighter respected even among the Giants.
The gods and mythology of Laufey's Wildwoods
The Everywhen collects gods from more than one mythology, which is the biggest departure from the Norse-centred mainline arc. The confirmed character roster so far includes Phranque (voiced by Jack Quaid), Rue (Perlina Lau), plus Sekhmet and Begtse. Sekhmet is drawn from Egyptian myth and Begtse from Tibetan Buddhist tradition, which tells you the game reaches well beyond the Norse pantheon of Ragnarök.
Faye's own roots stay Norse: she is a Jötunn, a Giant, and her old fight against the Aesir gives the character her spine. The Everywhen is where those mythologies collide, ruthless gods competing for power in a land thick with dangerous magic. Beyond the named cast, plot and enemy details remain thin, and the wiki still lists those sections as pending.
Gameplay and combat, what the trailers reveal
The June 2026 State of Play trailer is the main source, roughly 24 minutes of it. Faye plays faster and more aggressive than Kratos. Sony's own description leans on speed, control and relentlessness, a fighter who overwhelms with decisive, precise strikes rather than the Ghost of Sparta's heavier, grounded style.
She wields Giant abilities and magic, and the pitch positions her as a warrior who went toe-to-toe with Thor and could match Kratos himself. Expect the God of War third-person action template, reworked around a lighter, quicker moveset. Detailed weapon and skill breakdowns are not public yet; the wiki's weapons and gameplay sections are still empty.
Expected God of War Laufey price in India
Sony has not announced an India price. We are flagging that clearly rather than inventing a number. What we can do is set expectations from precedent.
Recent Sony first-party PS5 titles have launched in India in the ballpark of the standard AAA tier, and if Laufey is priced as a full release you should budget for the top of that range. Whether it comes in below full price, as some recent story-led PlayStation games have, is unknown. We will update this section with the confirmed MRP, street prices and any bank offers the moment the India listing goes live.
Pre-order details and editions
The PlayStation India page currently shows an Add to Wishlist button rather than an open pre-order or a price. Editions have not been detailed. When pre-orders go live, expect a standard edition and, going by Santa Monica's past launches, likely a digital deluxe with early-unlock or cosmetic extras.
